July 1 - July started off with early fireworks. Aurora and Squilly are winners at a dog show and Aila has her puppies! Squilly was winners dog and Aurora was winners bitch, best of winners and best of breed in Wrentham, MA. North'Star's Aila didn't want to be overlooked so she decided to have her puppies later in the day. She had 4 big, beautiful puppies -2 males, 2 females - almost a pound each! All are doing well.
July 9 - Our own Squilly-licous won a 4 point major and was Best of Breed at the Farmington Valley Kennel Club show. Hurray for his third major win. One more point to go.
July 10 - Pictures of Aila's puppies are on the puppy page. OMG! Forsythia had a bath today. Everyone survived, and the police and fire department did not have to be called. She and Kathy are resting comfortably.
July 14 to 17 - The Sterling and North'Star dogs and people (also joined by the Northwoods dogs from Maine) gathered in Vermont for the annual get together and summer dog show. There were 16 dogs and 6 people happily scampering around the house and yard. There are pictures on the fun page.
July 15 - Today Squilly (Ch. Sterling's Bear Hug) was Winners Dog at the Woodstock Dog Club show and won his Championship!! He is Kelev's second champion offspring. Aila's puppies are 2 weeks old today and well over 2 pounds each.
July 16 - Hurray! - Aurora got her first major win, as well as being Best of Winners and Best of Breed at the Green Mountain Dog Club show.
July 17 - Aurora was Winners Bitch AGAIN to earn her second major, Ch. Squilly was Best of Breed, and our good friend Anne Gannon's dog Chase (Northwood's HH French Connection) was Best of Winners to also earn a major and finish his Championship! All of his points were from the bred-by exhibitor class! What a great weekend.

Aug. 6 - Miss Aurora won yet ANOTHER major for 4 points at the Minuteman Samoyed Club supported entry at the Pioneer Valley show in Greenfield, MA. We are all so proud of her. It was also Ivy's (Sterling's Getting Secretive) very first show and she did very well.
Aug. 28 - Most of August has been very quiet - the dog days of summer - but this week Satara's and Aila's puppies are starting to go to their new homes. Yesterday Hosta, who will be called Tuukka (go Bruins!) went to his forever home in Methuen, MA. Wonder if anyone got any sleep last night!
Aug. 29 - We are so lucky - Hurricane Irene did not personally impact any of us in VT, NH or CT except for power and phone outages. Our prayers are with those that were. Here in Vermont, our worst problem was "Girls Behaving Badly " in the house because it was too miserable to go out and play. It is a good thing thing they are so cute when they are being naughty.
Sept. 2 and 3 - The rest of Satara's and Aila's puppies went to their homes this weekend. Lily is going to be called Jovi, and will be living with her new family in Rhode Island. Little Potter's new home is in New Hampshire - now named Teddy. Violet is remaining with Christa and her new name is North'Star's Eye of the Storm, to be called Nylada which means arctic wolf in the native Samoyed language.
For the last month Marion has been giving show handling classes to a little rag-tag group of Sterling dogs and their owners. Initally thought to be hopeless cases, under Marion's tutulage they have turned into quite a polished group ready to try their luck in the show ring. They include Kathi and Midas, Ed with Ivy, and Mary handling Dickens.
Unfortunately the upcoming dog show in North Conway, NH had to be cancelled due to damage done by Hurricane Irene. That is always such a fun show to go to with the beautiful scenery and nice shops.
Sept. 16 - Aurora was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex to win her championship at the South Shore kennel Club show in Falmouth, MA today. Hurray for her! She finished in only 7 weekends with 3 majors (she only needed 2) and 2 Bests of Breed.
Sept. 19 - Roo, Forsythia and baby Nylada went to the veterinary opthamologist for their annual eye exams and everyone's eyes are perfect. It was a major road trip for Nylada and she did it like a pro.

Oct. 9 - Satara was Best of Breed at the Champlain Valley Kennel Club show in Essex Junction, VT. He was ALSO Winners Dog and Best of Winners. He sure had the judge's eye, handsome boy! Lisa Green, his handler, showed him beautifully.
Oct. 10 - Harry, Roo and Forsythia had a visit to their friend's dairy farm today and got to run around the fields, hunt field mice, dig holes and meet the beautiful Jersey cows of whom they were just a bit cautious. The cows were very interested in them. It was a warm, picture-perfect fall day (and Kathy had no camera! :( All were sound asleep by the time they were a half mile down the road on the way home.
Oct.22 - Forsythia (Sterling's Instant Karma) has just been bred with Marty (Ch. Moonlighter's Wicked Wise Guy) of First Light Samoyeds in Maine. This will be Forsythia's first litter (if we are lucky) and now we will just have to wait. :( That's the hard part!
Nov. 4 - The "cousins" from Massachusetts are visiting at Christa's house. Her show handler, Lisa, is without power and has trees down over her dog yard from the late Oct. snow storm, so her siberian puppies have gone to "camp"! To see some really cute pictures click here.
Nov. 11 - Ivy got her very first points (2) and Aurora was Best of Breed at the Souhegan Kennel Club show in Fitchburg, MA.
Nov. 12 - Today was a great day at the show ( Framingham District Kennel Club) for the Sterling dogs! Midas (Sterling's Got It in Gold) was Winners Dog for a 3 point major, and was also Best Bred By Exhibitor. Ivy was Reserve Winners Bitch, and Squilly was named Best of Opposite Sex.
Nov. 13 - As the weekend wrapped up, Midas got his 2nd 3 point major win and was Best Bred By Exhibitor Group 4!! Squilly again was again BOS. The Sterling and North'Star dogs did us proud!
Nov. 22 - Forsythia is pregnant! She had an ultrasound today and it looks like there are 7 puppies. We are so excited! :)
Nov. 24 - Satara won his conformation Championship today!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Nov.27 - Ivy (Sterling's Getting Secretive) finished out the 4 day Thanksgiving Cluster dog show in West Springfield, MA by winning a four point major. Her brother DaKota (Ch. Sterling's Good Just Got Better) finished his championship the same day in Maryland!
Dec. 23 - Forsythia had her puppies! She was just a puppy herself in the picture above! She had 2 girls and 3 boys. All are doing well.
Dec. 25 - A very Merry Christmas to all! We are picking out Christmas-ey names for the new puppies. We picked Sugar Plum and Holly for the girls, and Cracker (as in Nut), Blitzen and Elf (the smallest one) for the boys.

Jan. 13 - A little video of Forsythia's puppies at 3 weeks is at the bottom of the 'Puppy Page'.
Jan. 13 thru 16 - The dog show last Fri., Sat., Sun. and Mon. in Fitchburg, MA was a great one for the Sterling and North'Star dogs. Aurora was Best of Breed 3 days and Best of Opposite Sex on the fourth. Satara got 2 Selects and a Best of Opposite Sex. Ivy won her second major for 3 points and now needs only two more points to finish her championship!
Jan. 17 - The human mommy found the puppies out of the whelping box and dining with their mother on the oriental rug! Where is the camera? :(
Jan. 18 - Aurora has accumulated enough points and is now a Grand Champion!
Jan. 18 - Sterling's Roo has gone to stay with her show handler, Lisa Green, for awhile. It's a fun doggie winter camp where she gets to play with Lisa and Lisa's siberians - and go to future dog shows.
